Default surging

Mine also does the rpm surging you described, I think it has something to do with the fly by wire since my new 08 Avenger with fly by wire does the same thing. The ticking could be the infamous HEMI tick or it could be loose headers.Check all header bolts for tightness including where the headers bolt to the exhaust. As for your EGR,does your headers have the extra little tube for the 'egr' on the passenger side?

OK, thank you for the replies guys! :O) Im gonna do some work to her today. Should I take off the throttle body and clean it, or can I clean it on the truck? Im thinking about putting back on my stock wires and ditching the thundervolt set. I will clean my air cleaner too. As far as driving her hard, Im a pretty conservative driver, I dont drive over the speed limit that much, and when Im on the highways, its normally just 70mph. I need to change the EGR, its been bugging me with the light on!

Im not sure how to adjust the timing like it was mentioned in the posts, can anyone tell me how I can do that? The drive by wire thing is shady to me. Personally I dont like it, cause I can listen to the motor running and rev it from the engine compartment! I have my suspicions about it going out, due to my surging. Unless something thinks the surging could be EGR related? It still acts funny when Im cruising through a parking lot at speeds lower then 20mph. It feels like the motor wants to die by surging down, then it goes back up. Its hard to explain, but its annoying!

The "hemi tick" is another thing driving me crazy! Thats always my response when talking to other dodge owners. Its the "hemi tick" Funny thing is, this tick really sounds like a sticky lifter! Further more, when I listen closely to other dodges with the Hemi engines, I dont hear this tick, from any engine then mine. My truck is the only dodge ram Ive heard make this tick.

Ok, recap, Im going to go outside now and clean my air intake, replace my wires with the stock ones, and hope the idle smooths out. Thank you for the replies once again guys! :O)

Take the throttle body off for cleaning. You don't want any of the cleaner or residue going into the engine.

The timing is computer controlled and can't be adjusted without a tune...

Just got done cleaning the throttle body. It was really dirty with buildup on the inside! Flakey gross black and brown crap. haha. Anyway, now thats clean and I took off my thundervolt wires, stock wires are back on with the clean throttle body, cold air intake, and clean air filter. I hope I get some mpg back.
