Default Fluid change = no move?

Did a fluid and filter change. Seemed perfectly straightforward.

But after putting in fluid until it was showing on the dipstick she won't move in any gear.

I show full when idling in neutral.

What could I have done wrong?

It was a failure to read and follow directions.

I didn't seat the seal in the pump first so the filter came loose when I put the pan up.

Thankfully I was able to salvage a good bit of the $8 a quart Mobil 1 ATF and had enough extra on hand to make up for what I lost.

You mean the seal that you MUST fit first before pushing in the large flat pancake style filter afterwards don't you?

Al.

Yes. Read the directions and processed them exactly backwards.

I was thinking "must be seated on filter".

Turned 40 back on the 6th. This is not a good sign.
