Ah, but the rear end gears will affect your mileage. If you have a 4.56 you will have great low end grunt, BUT you will turn higher RPMs at freeway speeds. It also depends on your driving - if you spend a lot of time in the city, not as much as an impact. If you do highway driving, then it will impact you a bit.
I drove an 2008 with the 3.92 gears in it and at 70mph, it was turning 2000 rpms, as opposed to my 2008 with the 3.21 turning 1450 rpms at the same speed. The 3.92 will burn more petrol....

with gears you'll take the yota. but a cummins with a bullydog...that can push 450hp depending on the setting, so i wouldn't get my hopes up.
you will increase city mileage with 4.56 gears. understand that this does not give you more power, just more torque AT THE WHEELS, not at the motor. they will cost you significantly mroe than $1k to get.
Really, to make any BIG jump in hp or torque I'd say you need closer to $2k. But for $1k i'd go headers, catback, superchips. You can do most of it yourself.

Headers dont give enough hp by themselves for the price. Depending on your price, superchargers are good. If you don't care about gas mileage, you could change to a 4.56 rear end - that'll wake her up.
Of course, heads and a cam will definitely do the trick. Really everything has to work together. You can change the intake to a cold air, but then you need to change the throttle body to take advantage, then you need to get heads and a cam to take advantage of that. Then maybe you need a more powerful fuel pump and bigger injectors to help. Then you need a good exhaust to help all of that! It never ends. The computer can adjust to some of that okay, but you need to go with big bucks. Speed is never cheap.

4.56 gears dont affect your mileage, if anything they improve it... As for new mods for more power anything after the basics like you have now (programer/exhaust/CAI) will more than likely end up costing around a grand per mod if not more.
For your next step I would go Gears/Headers/Cam

The gears wont cost you over a grand, I had mine bought and installed for under a grand. I think it was like 9 something out the door.
yes you are only improving on the torque at the wheels but it is also allowing you to transfer more power that you already are making to the pavement

i still don't see how it gets you mroe power, or lets you put more down.
unless you're talking about an increase of efficiency from oem gears to some high class aftermarket gears, but that is likely a negligible increase, if there is one.

Turbo is around $3,500 and you need to get a tuner that will work with it too at an additional cost (couldn't tell you how much) and a supercharger is around $5,000 for a good one but you will also need a tuner or someone to tune it correctly as well at an additional cost. They will give you boat loads of power though....
