Default Bye bye resonator.

So I just finished taking the resonator off my 04 1500 hemi, and I gotta say - pretty impressive difference. It's not huge, but definately noticeable. Sound-wise anyway, I'll find out how she drives tomorrow on the way to work.

It wouldn't have been much work at all, but it was pretty damn rusted, so it took a hammer, several screwdrivers (I don't have any chisels haha) an impact wrench, and an air hammer. Bought a new compressor and air tool set, so they got a good work out today. So now, my exhaust is dumped right after the stock muffler.

Now I just gotta wait for my AT3030 to get here some time in November... I hope. It's on back order unfortunately.

i cut out my rear resonator on my 08 5.7 qc. cause ive heard of mpg gains. when doing my 6 hour drive back to home from work, at 55 mph i noticed a 25.5 mpg ( on flat ground)

i easly got 730 km (453 M) out of my 98 L (25 Gal) tank, it took 91Litres to refill. (im from canada bare with me)

and the sounds a bit nicer too.

The resonator is there to damp harmonics (droning) in the cab. Anybody notice nasty droning in the cab at highway speeds? what about droning while pulling a trailer at highways speeds?

before i took out the res, i couldnt hear the exhaust with the pedal mashed, all id hear is the hemi breathing. I seem to get some droning on cold start ups, and thats about it.

The AT3030 is notorious for the cab drone when used without a resonator. The 3030xl has a built in resonator. Food for thought.
You might want to keep your old one handy in case it bothers you after a while.
I tried mine without one and the drone was awful so I just put the stock resonator back on and it now sounds perfect. IMO.
I love the 3030!

I had the resonator cut off of my truck by my local muffler shop and it made quite a noticable difference in the exhaust note. I sounded more like what you would expect a HEMI to sound like. Of course after about 2 months of that I decided that it was not quite enough sound for me so I had them replace the stock muffler with the 50 series Flowmaster and now it sounds even better. Left the single side out factory exhaust location. Some droning at about 70-75 but for the most part not too annoying for normal driving, but get on it and then everyone knows your coming.
