Default Help please! What year stock mufflers fit '05 Ram?

Well, I screwed up. I have an '05 quad cab Ram 1500 with Hemi. I bought an aftermarket muffler to install myself. I then found a stock muffler from an '07 Ram quad cab 1500 Sport with a Hemi. I cut the '07 Ram muffler apart and kept the ends with the clamps. Using 3" wide band clamps, I then installed the '07 muffler ends to my new muffler. I set it up this way so that I could do an easy swap. And, if I ever trade the truck, I could easily remove my aftermarket muffler and reinstall the stock muffler.

Well, as it turns out, I didn't do my research, and the '07 pipes are about 1/8" to 1/4" larger in diameter than the '07. So, my question is, what years of Ram trucks have a muffler that is a direct drop in on my '05? Thanks!

Well, I measured the pipe on my truck and found it's 2-7/8" OD pipe, not 3". I'll have to make some sheet metal spacers for it.

yeah, but the cheap adapters at the parts store are mild steel and will rust out in no time. +2 on getting it expanded by Midas. SS is very hard to stretch using those cheap tools, so don't bother doing it yourself. Break one of those inside your pipe and your screwed...lol
