Has anyone tried one of these HU's yet???

It is a factory look-a-like radio, with all the bells and whistles of an aftermarket. It seems pretty slick at first glance, but I'm not sure about the quality. I've never heard of them before, and never heard of anyone testing one.
I'd like to upgrade my stock system with speakers and an amp; however I want to keep the factory look. The cleansweep and 3sixty are out of the question, because I refuse to use the add-on volume control. If you don't use the add-on volume ****, you're basically alter the flat EQ curve that the cleansweep worked so hard to get in the first place.
This OEM radio seems like it would be a good way to keep the factory look, have pre-amp outputs, and a 9-band adjustable EQ. Along with tons of upgradability. Anyways, just wondering if anyone can comment on these. I'm looking for the good, bad, and ugly.
Thanks, Lucas

I first saw them over at crutchfield. I guess they're new. I would like to think that crutchfield wouldn't carry a crumby product. They 999.99 at crutchfield, which seems a little pricy. However, you would have the comfort of knowing you could return it if you didn't like it.
Anybody want to be the guinee pig???

Yep, for a little more, you can buy a OEM one from Mopar.com.
You have to buy a bunch of add-ons just to use most of the features on the one you listed.
Get a Factory unit from Ebay. That's how I got my RAQ 6 disc MP3 radio.

The problem with the factory unit, is you don't have the ability to add an amp. The frequency curves on the factory unit are all out of wack. When you raise the volume, the bass goes down.
I did see the CH-4100 on flee-bay for 489.00 w/free shipping. It just seems like a great way to keep the factory look, and have the ability to add amps.

I just went through the same desicion. I wanted to retain factory look and add some better speakers and amps. Well, long story short....It will cost the same amount in the end if you just buy a double din indash dvd unit and buy a navigation radio bezel straight from any dodge dealer ($129+tax) Or you can buy the bezel from ebay. It is a factory part and look. I opted to get the bezel, spend a little more and purchased this http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...VIC-F90BT.html It has 4volt pre-outs and a 3 band eq with 5 curves. That is as good as any signal restoration and clean up that the JL and Rockford will give you, not to mention the need of a line driver if you keep the factory deck to boost the weakend signals. Sonix tried to sell me a $80 adapter harness that is not necessary of you are going to run RCA cables to amps. All you need is to connect the power wire, remote lead, ignition wire and ground, That's all, so the $80 harness they say you need is not actually needed.(I'm running external speaker wire from my amps to the speakers) The factory wires will be just sitting there not doing anything waiting for me to return back to stock when I sell. If you want a very nice cheap DVD indash unit check this one out. Lots of good reviews and beautiful display. http://cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-AVH-P400...lenotsupported
I'm hard wiring mine so I'll be able to watch some movies while driving and change setting on the navigation if I want. Those adapters they sell is what stops you from making changes and watching movies while driving.
That CH-4100 has no specs, very high priced for what? You'll still have get a sound processor/pre-amp and a line driver. Those 2 items for quality controls will run $280 for the processor (Audiocontrol EQS) and $130 for the line driver for front/rear/sub(Audiocontrol LC6i)
That head unit seems like a complete waste of money to me. I have done a lot of research the past few weeks. Take my advice and get a nice unit that will wipe all that bullsh8t out of the way.
