I'm getting ready to change my diff fluids....is the LSD additive available at some of the common parts stores, or is it a stealership only deal?

autozone $7. Your gonna need the larger of the 2 bottles. The smaller one is just shy of enough. I think you'll need almost 75% of the bigger one.

I checked the Royal Purple lube, and the label said it already had the friction modifier in it. So you used it and added some extra as well? I'm wondering if you use Royal Purple you need to add anything?

When I did my rear I used Royal Purple and still added the LSD additive. I have had no problems since I put the fluid in. Don't know what would have happened if I didn't add the LSD additive but I didn't want to find out the hard way.

Putting too much friction modifier in your differential causes premature wear on your clutch pack because they are grab too much onto one another. It can cause serious hopping while in reverse as well. The clutch packs are designed to grab one another that's what the modifier helps do, but too much isn't good for the long haul and can cause problems everyday depending on your situation. More so wear your pack out sooner
