Default 06 Quad Cab, Aftermarket Door Speakers Help

06 1500 Quad Cab still with basic 4 speakers setup-

looking to put a nice system in it, need help with what door speakers I can fit and should use. http://sonicelectronix.com says my vehicle has and can fit the following-

Front: 6x9 Max Depth 5.25
Rear: 5.25 Max Depth 3.5

Can I fit 6 1/2's in both front and rear doors if I stay within the max depth or is there not enough room. Think that would also be a good choice? I was hoping to do that to go along with an under rear seat sub woofer box (2x10's or 2x12's). Probably 12's though since my wife & I listen to a little more pop/rap, we do rock out to metallica once in a while as well though.

I'm getting a Pioneer AVIC-F90BT headunit and was also planing on getting 2 amps, one for door speakers and one for subs under rear seat. was also thinking of getting some 3 1/2 for the dash. and what ever else would be needed to run the system Crossover, Capacitor, etc? Its been many, many years since my last Highend system, damn dw's. Hope to keep it all under $2000. I already found the head unit with rear back up camera for $690.

Thanks,
Brent

Im pretty sure that your rear speaker slots should be able to fit both 5 1/4" and 6 1/2". I took out my 5 1/4" and put in 6 1/2" today and they lined right up. I just bought these pioneers from amazon for a steal... I would definitely recommend them for the fronts. But I guess you arent really on a budget are you?

As far as the rears, I found some 4-way pioneers on Ebay for cheap that I just put in... sound nice all around. I doubt that you can fit 6x9's in the rear as the holes will not line up.

I might be getting myself a sub box also for under the rear seat with 2 10's and an amp. We shall see what Santa brings

Sounds like some really good speakers and a amp and the best part they are factory upgrades... but really expensive if you ask me but then again i've been out of the audio gig for about 12 years now...

I've been for the past few days, sorry to be a bother! Hope not all members are this helpful to newbies on this site.

sdlnxgk: thanks for the info on the 6 1/2"s those links look like a nice setup but I pretty strong on getting 2x10's or 2x12's.

pcollins: hopefully santa is good to you

so 6 1/2"s it is. Will probably do a components set for the front doors and do do away with getting 3 1/2 dash speakers.

Thanks for all your input so far. It does not go unrecognized

I installed Polk Audio DB series and love'em. Super clean and super loud, however, I'm running 100watts rms to each one. I put 6x9 in the front doors and 6.5" in the back. Both coaxial because componewnts would have been more of a PIA than I wanted with those integrated wiring plugs for the doors. I tried running speaker wire therough the rubber sleeve on the door and they made them do it's a big plastic plug on the end and you can't get a wire through. I bought them from CircuitCity as they were having a buy one get the 2nd half off. I only paid $180 for both pairs.
If you not adding amps, I would suggest getting a pair of Pioneers or similar. Putting 6.5"s up front will reduce the amount of bass you will get. 6x9's have more bass. I dunno what kinda sound your factory unti will produce as most of them are not that great with atermarket speakers, so i couldn't help ya there???? But I would find that out for sure!
I'm sure Crutchfield has the same Polk offer. Even if you wanted to get the 6.5's all way around, they would give you th plates to make it happen and they give you the connectors for the factory plugs so the install is super easy and you won't have to even cut any of the factory wiring.

So, unless you plan on monting the tweeter to your door, forget it. Also, components aren't going to give you any better of a sound with your factory radio. The whole idea behind that is for more accurate bass response and isolated high frequency at or above ear level. My speakers have the frequency resistors mounted on the under side of the dpeaker and let me just tell you, I came from Infinity componets and these Polk's blow those away! No need for components in any "average equipt" vehicle. Only necessary if your going all out on specialized crossovers...etc....

Thats cool dirtydog, i have the same speakers in mine, lol. I have the thunderform amplified, i dont recommend them(getting replaced this winter).
As for the original request, you could put the tweeters in the dash where the 3 1/2" locations for directional effect. Your ideas are very good. Many 10/12" box options for the Quad cab, so you have alot of options. I would definitely get an amp for your mains thats a close match to the stereo channels rms, for cleaner sound and to keep up with the subs you are wanting. Good luck on the new system.

Also, check Crutchfield - they have all the sizes listed, etc....you enter your truck model and year, etc., and they tell you what fits. You can also call them for assistance and recommendations. They are extremely helpful. Plus, if you order from them, they supply all harnesses, brackets, adapters, etc.....

When I was refering to bass I meant mid range. Nothing about subs was mentioned. Sure you can put 3.5" speakers up in the dash but there's no wiring, so that would have to be done. I just think of how awesome my truck sounds and I just threw in coaxials because I didn't want the headaches and hassles of components! There's no need for them a stated before unless you in competition. There's certainly going to be no need if the stock radio is being used. The sound reproduction from most factory radios sounds terrible when paired with aftermerket speakers. If you don't think so, then you never heard what good sound is. I have yet to hear excellent sound with that combo.

As far as power, I have a JBL GTO75.4 100watts rms to each speaker. For subs I have 2-10" Infinity perfect DVQ's powered with a JBL Crown BP1100.1 amp. Sounds awesome. Super clean and very loud. All that is out of my Pioneer Avic-f90bt that was installed. The max volume from the unit is 62 and if I have it at 62, not one crackle, distortion or muddy sound. It truly sounds great! I couldn't be happier.
