2007 Ram 4-low light blinking
About three weeks ago, I was driving down the road doing about 55-60 in 2wd and the 4-low light started blinking on the dash....then it would stop. cycled through this several times. have had it to the dealer 4 times now. The first few times they couldn't find anything wrong. The last time it started doing it, drove it right to the dealer and made them go for a ride. On that ride, shifted into 4-low and then the truck wouldn't shift out. Ended up changing an EGR valve and some AC transducer supposedly on the same circuit and shorting each other out. Worked for about a week. Then this morning the 4-low light started blinking again. Bringing it in again tomorrow. Any ideas on the problem? Starting to get pissed. By the way, the truck only has 16000 miles on it.
Mine did the same thing last year. The actuator on the transfer case was causing the issues and shorted out a few different things. The dealer had it for a month trying to find it and get it fixed.
Just an update to the dilemma I was having. The dealer ended up replacing the actuator and actuator motor. Seemed to be working fine till one night when I was leaving my parents house. As I left the house and started walking to the truck (the truck was not running and the keys were in my pocket) I could hear the actuator shifting the truck back and fourth between 4wd and 2wd. Got in the truck and started it, and the 4wd low light was blinking. Then the neutral symbol adjacent to the 4wd controls light up. I shifted the truck into neutral to see if it would then shift to 4wd low. It didn't and actually stayed in neutral. Couldn't put the truck into park. Ended up calling the dealer and they towed it. They did a whole electrical check on the 4wd and found that a wire was broken in the main wiring harness for the 4wd. Since they fixed it, I haven't seemed to have any problems. Just to note, I am not sure where the wire harness for the 4wd runs, but all these problems started about a week after the dealer found a bad tie rod and replaced it during an oil change / tire rotation. I think the mechanic was the culprit on this one.
