Default hella 500s

just got a pair of hella 500s for behind the grill. going to install them sometime tommorow or friday. im not digging the suggested wiring diagram in respects to tapping into the hibeam 12v source. I want them to be manual and not come only when hibeams are on. I was planning on tapping the 12v source from the cig lighter to the switch. That should do the trick right? The cig lighter only is powered when the ignition is in the on postion correct? i cant wait to put them in. I got them for $55 from walmart tonite if anyones looking for a nice set.

The 12 volt cig lighter will not be a good idea for them as they most likely draw more then it supports. Maybe tie into the regular headlight wiring and then add a switch to turn them on and off seperate from headlights.

the cig lighter 12v supply is for the switch. its also connected to a relay which is connected to + battery. so it will not draw more power.
heres how it will be wired
(ill use one light to sum it up because they are jumped together anyways)
blue wire on light grounded
black wire to relay
red wire from relay to + battery
another blue wire from relay to ground
yellow from relay to switch
green from switch to 12v power supply ( cig lighter)
another blue from switch to ground

i got my snaswer my just thinking about it anyways.

yellow wire to switch

I got a pilot wireless hookup on ebay for 9.00, hooked the box to the battery, ran the wires from the box to my KC daylighters, bam, we have light. was real easy!

Most are mounted on the bar that runs behind the grill. Very easy to do....
