Default 1500 Mega Cab MPG?????

I found an 06 1500 Mega Cab 4x4 w/Hemi & 50,000mi today that I would like to buy. However, I was wondering how much worse the fuel mileage will be in this truck compared to my 08 1500 QC 4x4 Hemi? If anyone knows I would appreciate the info. I am planning on making the deal happen tomorrow, but still have to sleep on it tonight.

Thanks,
J

They are the same engine, just the mega cab won't have MDS. MDS may give you better on the highway.
Personally I think MDS sucks and it kicks in way to early. I'm turning it off with a Diablo tuner when it gets here. These trucks are too big to run on 4cyl. However, the mileage read-out doesn't lie. 2mpg more on the highway with MDS when it's kicking in. So, the only improvement you will se is on longer highway trips. Mix driving you won't notice much difference

I agree . Also the Mega Cab is on a 2500 frame so it's going to be heaver.

Thanks guys!

Anyone on here actually own one that can give me some real world numbers. Seeing how it weighs almost 1,000 lbs more than my current truck I figure the MPG have to be a little lower.

That's actually quite good for a Mega. I have two buddies that have 'em, both 1500 (although it shares more in common with 2500's, solid front axle, etc) and both 4x4's. They both constantly bi*ch about the poor gas mileage and poor cooling with the A/C in the rear. Only real gripes I've heard though.

But IMO, if you gotta ask about the fuel economy, you probably don't want to look at a Mega Cab, or a full size truck for that matter...

I do agree with the 'dog on the MDS point though, I resisted the urge for a new truck in '06 because I didn't want that crap on a full size truck. When I'm back working again, it'll be a Cummins if I can afford it, if not, at least a 2500 Hemi so I won't have to deal with MDS...

I realize it's not going to get great fuel economy, my 1500 I have now only gets 13 mpg and I drive 70% freeway. Heck, the 05 Cummins I traded in a couple of months ago only got 15 mpg on average. I am just trying to figure out a monthly budget and wanted to see if people knew the average mpg for them. If it was significantly worse than the QC then I probably won't buy one, but if we are only talking 1-2mpg then the advantages far outweigh the extra fuel.

Thanks,
J

I just finished a 3000 mile trip in my 2006 Megacab, Hemi, 2 wheel drive. The best I could get at 70 was about 16. Step up to 80 mph and it dropped a full mpg. My average back and forth to work, half highway half stop and go is about 13mpg.

Before i put my new tires on I got around 16 hwy with mine and 11 on my normal 10mile drive to work. With my 35's I only get 9.5 daily.
