Default Awd/4x4 to straight 4x4 tcase swap?

Hey folks, I'm new to this forum, I Have an 04 Ram 1500 QC, 5.7L AWD/4X4 Auto, Laramie, when I bought the truck I didn't think that because it was AWD I would have trouble getting a lift kit for it, but I called around to the major companies, Fabtec, Pro Comp, Skyjacker..... and so on, and nobody makes one they say there's no demand for it and if I did install a 4X4 kit I would end up with a Driveline vibration. So my question to everyone is, has anyone converted a AWD to straight 4X4????? my guess is I will need to change out the transfer case, get new or modify my driveshafts and possibly change the gearing in the front diff and maybe get the computer re flashed for the straight
4X4 program. I'm not sure what Tcase I have I haven't crawled under to check yet.

Can't help you there, you may need to take it to a 4x4 specialty shop.
I know when I bought mine new off the lot, I had a hell of a time finding a Laramie (wanted the leather seats for ease of cleaning red Ga. clay mud off of) without the AWD.

But yeah, EVERY lift company seems to state in their specs "Not for use on AWD models"...

And I would have jumped on an AWD Ram if I had run into one. I love being able to go WOT any time I want to in my car and the Ram sure could use more traction in bad weather.

It was hard enough for me to find any Laramie models available in GA, much less one in white so I took what I could find when I bought 2 years ago. Mine was one owner with 50k miles and in flawless shape so I think I got a good example. My second choice was a silver truck in Miami.

When I bought mine I had a hard time finding a Laramie without the AWD too. It took some time and looking but I did eventually find one.

It's completely unpractical to make the switch. Much cheaper to just trade for a truck without AWD.

I prefer the good old stick in a truck. Hell, better yet, give me a SFA front with manually locking hubs.
But my daily driver, an '02 Grand Cherokee Overland has the Quadra-Drive system. Basically an AWD with lockers both front and rear. Now that baby with the 4.7 H.O. hooks up big-time! I can only imagine what a Quadra-Drive SRT-8 Grand Cherokee must feel like!!!

Why? I wouldn't have bought my ram if it didn't have the turn ****. screw fighting with the stick all the time. And forget about getting out and having hubs that won't lock/unlock or need replacing and then the whole thing has to come apart. Aaaaahhhhhhh

As for the AWD switch, you will need a completely different transfer case from what I have been reading along with all the other odds and ends that go with them. You will need an ecu reprogram as well.

I would just say get a 3" body lift for the looks and be done with it or unless someone makes the dropped spindles so that would put you in the air more, just retain the same amount of travel.

Ya thats what I figured, its going to end up being to expensive to make it worth it, I decided that I'm just going to save up and trade it on a 08, 2500 QC, diesel. that way i've got a SFA, to mess around with! thanks everyone, PS. my ram makes a pretty good recovery vehicle, my buddy flipped his ranger last night and I got got called to help him, with the ram I spun him around and flipped him back, all we had to do was top up the oil and it fired back up, all in 2ft of snow with my bald BFG ATKO's
