Default auto eject tail gate..

Hi, is any one having problems with thier tailgates opening?

My trucks tail gate opens at will while in motion, no matter how hard, or soft I close it, It's been cold here in Alberta, when I lock the glass door to my topper, it keeps the tail gate in place.

So far I have lucky that I have not lost any tools, nails or screws, but this is close to me getting a new truck ( not a dodge )

Thier is nothing inside the box that would cause the tail gate to auto eject....

My tailgate does not auto-eject. But, I failed to close it hard enough once and when I started driving it slammed open. Scared the **** out of me!

The rubber bumper stoppers are probably stiff or the topper is preventing the tailgate from completely shutting.

I had a 99 Dakota that you just about couldn't shut the tailgate when it got below zero. Very careful to not open it...

My old Dakota did that. The grease inside the tailgate eventually dried out or washed off or whatever, and the mechanics of it got sticky. I would have to slam it several times to get it to properly latch. I'm sure I could have opened it up and greased it, but I never did. It could also be the cold for you - it causes the grease to become stiffer and could cause the same problem.
