Anybody with experience on high mileage 2005's?
New guy on here. Been lurking for a while...
Seems like a lot of money for the mileage. I picked up my '05 QC 1500 SLT 4x2 for $9100 in Sept. Had a little over 58k on the clock. Wasn't even looking to buy a new(er) truck, but it was an offer I couldn't refuse.
I think some of the other advice will serve you well. If you can afford a little time and a little more money, I would think a lower mileage truck will come along.

I have a friend with a 95 1500 5.9. He has 430k miles on it. Original drive train. He changes the oil every 3k and the trans fluid at recommended intervals. I have a 92 Dakota 5.2 with 165k on it and no problems, all original except for the water pump and radiator. Too bad they have no records for that truck. It's going to be hard to sell with that many miles on it.
430 miles on an LA360 engine doesn't shock me at all if it was well maintained, those things were brutes for over 30 years. But that much on an original Dodge tranny, now that puts it in the "that's hard to believe" category...
It's a gamble with that kind of mileage. I just bought a 2004 regular cab shortbed with only 22k miles on it. The kicker is the guy left a big scrape down one side and never cleaned the truck since it was new, but he did get the oil changed and keep the fluid levels up. You can get a similar truck with much better mileage for cheaper than 6500, so look for private sellers and make sure you carfax it no matter who it's from.
