old timers
oh yeah. i HATE when others touch my truck. i would rather fix it all myself then bring it anywhere. i dont trust anyone else on it. if i dont know how to do it i take it apart and figure it out anyways.
now a days, us youngins just put an "in line spark detector" (for the old timers, you can google it) just plug into spark plug wire, and plug other end onto spark plug, it lets you see the spark insteal of feel it (like in the thread I just read that im pretty sure spawned this one)
i'm in for both. GM distributors even had little doors where you could insert the hex tool and set the ???? bonus points for who knows the word.
we also used to actually rebuild wheel cylinders, starters, alternators, and yes, generators.
anybody still got a wheel cylinder hone ? anyone actually use it in the last 25 years ?
anyone ever try to rebuild a carb, and then catch the engine on fire ? come on, admit it.
i also still own a record player, although its called a turntable. its actually a nice one. cost a bundle back in about '77. i've also got a big collection of '33' albums. more bonus points for those under the age of 30 that know what 33 refers to, as opposed to 45 and 78 ?

I am 29 but my first vehicle was an 82 CJ-7 Laredo and the way I drove it I had to learn to fix it! The only thing I didn't do to it was roll it over! Came close couple of times though!

24 years old, have used many-o-timing lights, but never purchased one.
and yes i have rebuilt the carb on my 84 bronco and yes it caught on fire about 3 minutes later. and put the fire out with my hands W/O gloves and yes it friggin hurt!
also rebuilt the transmission in the same bronco 4+ times before it shifted right. so I aint no wussy!!

I had a hell of a collection of 33's, 45's and 8 tracks too. After I moved out to Georgia for college, my mom stored them in the basement in her house in N.Y., right beside the furnace. 'Nuff said 'bout that. I still have some 78's that were hand me downs from my grandfather in storage. Good ones: Benny Goodman, Count Basie and some I never heard of...
