how do you go about replacing the flat black plastic ones with the chrome strips.....the good ol' hair dryer approach?

Does anyone make chrome ones that fit over top of the factory ones?
If not, how do you go about removing the factory ones and replacing them with chrome?

Im not sure about installing the chrome one but i did remove my black factory ones. The first thing i did was let my truck set out in direct sunlight for an hour then all you need to do is take a credit card under on end to get the stick stuff started to come off then pull the strip from one end to the other and try to get as much adhesive off as you can. Repeat this step for the rest of the strips if they are heated correctly the will come off easily and they are extremely flimsy. they will not break however. If adhesive is left on the vehicle, peel it off with you fingernail then get the excess off with adhesive remover that you can buy at any local auto store. Then wash and wax you truck to get the areas to match and you done. Just my two cents ;)

There's a couple of ways to remove the molding. You can heat the molding with a hair dryer. then pry the corner up with something thin and plastic. or you can use cat gut fishing line. start at one end and just work it up and down. Takes a while ,use heavy duty line. I've tried it. it works. I paid $104.00 for the chrome molding for a Quad 4 .It won't fit over the old stuff. It's real chrome. Not that PUTCo stuff.

Thanks guys. I have a set on order and I think I will attempt to do this myself. Any tips on putting the new ones on straight or will I be able to see where the old ones were removed?
