Default Dual Exhaust Question

Hello all. I have a question about dual exhaust. I have a 2007 Ram 1500 4.7L V8 which currently has a 40 series Flowmaster and single pipe. I like the sound now, but I want it a bit louder and like the look of duals. I'm thinking of putting dual exit pipes on it. My question is, will putting the second exit pipe make it any louder or will the current sound be divided between the two pipes?

Also, and I'm not quite sure how to phrase this, is the 4.7 "eligible (in want of a better word)" to have true dual exhaust? Thanks in advance.

you can put true dual exhaust on anything with 2 exhaust manifolds. just dont forget about an X pipe or H pipe.
and yes duels from just the muffler should make is sound louder. i would suggest a magnaflow, but i never have liked flowmaster. to each their own.

What you can do is get rid of the 40 series and if you like the looks of duals you can get the Flowmasters Super 44 1-into-2 muffler and have dual exhaust ran out of that one muffler. The Super 44s are louder than the 40 Series and should sound better as a dual exhaust. Yes the 4.7 can have true dual exhaust....all you need is 2 mufflers and a good exhaust shop.

Default true dual exhaust question

I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 with a 5.7L V8 Hemi.

I want to put true dual exhaust on it probably 3" pipes. I was told by one exhaust shop that they can do it, but another said that they couldnt because of where the sensor was for the catalytic converter.

Does anyone have any insight on whether it is possible or not. I dont want this shop to start into it and then realize that they cant.

Thanks for your help.

They can do it. The new pipes should start after the cats- it won't be a problem. I would suggest that if you are going with true duals that 3 inch pipes are a little big. Welcome to DF.

Default throttle body spacer

Thanks for the help on the exhaust...now onto the next issue

I just installed a throttle body spacer on my 2005 dodge ram 1500, however the factory air receptor no longer fits...(obviously I added like 2 inches to the throttle body) the instruction say I may have to trim alittle off the receptor to make up the difference, but after trying......I just dont see it happening.

I have a cold air intake enroute and will be installing it when it gets here. I might just have to ditch the receptor and run the into right to the throttle body.

I already bought the d*&^ thing, so I am commited, what do you guys think??

i would suggest taking the tb spacer off and use it as a paper weight. our trucks do not gain anything with these at all. it is essentially just a noise maker. if your goign to switch from flowmaster to magnaflow you will need to find teh shortest muffler they make because the 18 and 22 inch are very tame and are not by any means louder than the fm 40 series. if your oding true duals i would go with 2.5 inch to x/h pipe to 2 aero3030 muffs and then exit how wver youd like. would sound real nice. again though the tb spacer is a waste of $$$ if you can return it do it.

Here's a clip of my 4.7L with a Flowmaster Super 44 single in, dual out. Should get you an idea of the noise you could expect.
