Default Clearance lights on my 06!

Got a set of OEM lights for Christmas. Took right at 4 hours for me to install, but there was some issues with the template (or my understanding of their pictures on the template) so I called a buddy with a 1 ton for some measurements and ended up talking for awhile. Some tips/observations:

I bought a new drill bit and hole saw bit (for the 7/8" hole they want) so I would have a nice sharp cuts.

Power was available on the right side A pillar as stated in most of the posts on here.

There were no markings/dents/holes for line up of the lights under the headliner as others have stated were on their trucks.

When drilling, try not to pull up on the drill when it breaks through, as this will leave a snagged hole that requires some filing. Speaking of filing, be sure not to run your finger around the large holes to see if they need filing...or at least remember they are sharp. (I have a small cut on my finger which just screws up the job with blood flowing.

Tape a bag under the holes while drilling to catch the metal shavings. The ones on the roof were easily swept up with a shop vac.

I went the extra step and siliconed around the holes for added water leak prevention.

Could probably do it again quicker, as I know the headliner removal now and not as worried about drilling holes in my truck!

Looks good. A buddy and I put a set of the smoked recon lights on my 01 Cummins. It took us about two hours I think. They are sweet once you get them on.

I would like to get a set of those for my truck. However, since mine is darker, I'd go with the smoked, but those look really sweet.

Looks great man, good job. It took me about three hours to do mine. Two hours of measuring and re-measuring many times and then trying to get the courage up to drill (no template with the Recon kit). Then probably only about an hour after I got brave enough to drill...

That's about how my work would go. However, it might take me several more hours. Two or so of measuring, half an hour of researching. An hour of going out to a lot to measure on a vehicle, another half an hour to realize that I didn't write down the measurements, and should take some photos for reference, and kinda see how they angle towards the front. Half an hour to measure again. Half an hour to drill. Two hours of messing with my headliner, getting side tracked towards other things that I could do as far as modding my interior, since I have the headliner off. Twenty minutes of researching mods on the interior. An hour of messing around with wiring. Ten to twenty minutes of appreciating their beauty. A much hated thirty minutes trying to figure how everything went back together on the inside, then thirty minutes of taking pictures, hosting them on photobucket, then posting them on here to tell you how my time was spent and how I like the lights.

Those are sweet. I love the look of those....make mine smoked as well....

Good job. My '08 is an SXT. I wonder if the wiring is there in that A pillar? I guess I could take if off and see before attempting this.
