Default Everyone help whats a pcu flash

I have a 4.7 dodge quad and i read somewhere in 4.7 threads that a pcu flash or sum like that can make u faster or keep up with a hemi i believe thats what i read along with the mods i have .... Please someone explain i might be able to bribe sumone at dodge but first i need to know exactly what i want them to do !!!!!!

A pre-08 4.7 will need more than a pcm flash (programmable/primary control module or something) to keep up with a hemi .

They call it a flash because the memory in the pcm is like your ipod...it's all digital. The flash part is the stock tune being written over by an aftermarket tune. Dodge can't help you, you need to go to a tuner or buy a handheld programmer but neither is cheap. Most new handheld programmers go for $350+ and the available ones for the 4.7 is limited. I believe Superchips 3815 was updated to support the 4.7.

but in a thread sumone mentioned they took it to the dealer and with a lilttle bit of connections they flashed it. thats what confuses me my uncle is mechanic at dodge and doesnt know either

Someone is feeding you a line of B.S.

Also, if you think you can squeeze out 50hp or more from a ecu flash, your sadly mistaken. The flashes change fuel trims and shift points. The Dealers simply have the "revised" versions of every update that has been made to the programming of a specific vehicle. 'An aftermarket handheld tuner will vary in gains but usually it's about 15-25hp for the average vehicle plus the ability to remove the speed governor and change shift points
