I didn't know that...I figured dodge was too cheap to have two different hitches .

I just looked again to see if the holes for the bolts were there... Nope. Just welded. The bracket/support that goes up to the bumper hitch/hole is different as well.

If there's a real interest, I'll put up pics as well, but it's cold and dark right now and I don't feel like it.

The reciever will come with some springy wire to pull the bolts in through the tube down to their holes. Lots of fun! It is easy enough but stressful when thinking about the wire falling off.

Get the wiring harness with the connector for the brake controller. I got the harness without the connector and don't have a wiring diagram to figure out what needs soldering...I've never seen so many wires coming off of a break pedal before in my life. You'll want the controller if you pull cars. I've pulled 7000 pounds without the controller and it turns my front wheels black within 10 km every time which isn't great.

No I believe you...I just hope mines as strong as the welded hitch. The bolts/nuts are pretty big though so I should be good....I don't tow much weight anyway.

Yes part two of the hitch is a pretty straight forward install but I also remember that wire that was needed to pull the bolt down the tube was a bit of a pain.

I'm not sure if it scares or amazes me more that up to 9,000lbs of trailer is held to the truck with a 5/8" pin, no matter how big and beefy all the other pieces are.

The reciever came in today $90 from dodge. The install was pretty easy but where u have to pull those bolts threw the reciever kinda made me nervous, but i got everything on there

As far as getting the factory 7 pin trailer plug, is that just a plug in play type thing and how much do those cost? I only have the 4 pin on there now.

Yea me too...I had to use a coat hanger to get one side in because the inside was so rough the wire it came with wouldn't push through.

I ordered the factory Mopar wiring harness for mine, after installing the Mopar hitch. It has one end that plugs in to the 4-pin connector hanging below the bumper, a wire that you need to solder into the Left tail light (easy as hell), and then you run the remaining insulated wires along the frame (with zipties) until you get to the engine compartment. From there you send in the lone blue wire through the firewall and into the foot pedal area inside the cab. This is the wire that you connect to the brake controller if/when you get one installed.

Sorry if this sounds confusing, it really wasnt. Took me and my dad maybe 1.5 hours to do everything, including the soldering, etc.

Let me know if you have questions.
