Default Electric Brake Controller

This is a question for those of you that have a electric brake controller. I have done some research and found the two kinds of controllers, time delay and proportional. I know that the time delay controller is a lot cheaper but was wondering if the cheaper one was worth it to buy. Also I won't be pulling the trailer all that often but when I do it will be some freeway miles.
Thanks

You would be fine with a time delay. I have the Activator II which is a time delay and it is outstanding. I have pulled my dad's Mopar muscle cars multiple times to car shows and such. I love the simplicity of this brake controller and highly recommend it. You can get one from $75-100.

I have a Prodigy proportional controller. It was ~$90 and recommended by both the dealer and multiple people on RV.NET. I'm quite happy with it.

I got mine for like 65 from advance. I don't know the brand without going outside and looking but it works fine. I have a 2007 qc 1500 4x4 and pull my backhoe on a 20' equipment trailer and it stops like it isn't even back there.

I've had both and prefer the proportional control. The time delay would always give me full brakes even if I was just touching the pedal and the proportional only gives me what I need in relation to how hard I hit the brakes, plus I have more settings for sensitivity. I use one setting for the travel trailer and one setting for the car trailer. Got mine at Mills Fleet Farm for ~ $120.

basically depends on what ur towin, if your going to be towing an 5th wheel ide go proportional if your towing a car or something of the sort ull be fine with a time delay i tow 12,000 LB trailers pretty much every day with a time dealy and its fine..the propotional is kinda nice tho in emergency braking situations

I think it is made by Hopkins and it is the Agility. It has 5 sensitivity settings. I use the most sensitive for my heavy TT and the least sensitive for empty car trailer,
