Default disabling ignition chip

I have a 2007 dodge 1500 4X4 4.7 L that is used for work. I need to make several copies of ignition keys for employees but can not afford the $200.00 plus cost per key. Is there a way to disable the computer chip in the key or truck that will allow me to use a regular key?

somebody told me you can attach a key with chip near the switch on a Ford and a cheap cut key would work the ignition .Dont know if it would work on a Dodge or not- plus there are security issues( sure is hard to get a simple vehicle nowadays)-Kevin

Bypassing the security system is a good way to get the insurance canceled. The tan head key with a 's' on the blade is the way to go.

A good automotive locksmith should be able to do this cheaper than the dealer. It is not dealer only.

The dealer can disable the Pass Key system. This is very commonly done with Gov't and large corporate cars and trucks.

The keys on eBay are in fact cheap, but then you have to pay a locksmith $40 or more just to cut your key for you; then you have to program it or pay someone to program it for you. After a little research, I opted not to buy a key off of eBay. I went to my local locksmith and paid $40 for his key that he cut and programmed for me. Of course, this is the gray key without the fob.

If you've got 2 chipped keys already, buy the eBay ones. They were 10 bucks and the locksmith only cost me 2.50 to cut 2. Only difference, they don't have them Rams head on them.

The procedure to program keys in on here somewhere, or in the manual, but it requires 2 already to be programmed. There might be a limit on number of chipped keys the truck can remember.
