Default Headers

Im looking for a good, but relatively cheap(under $450), set of headers for my 04 2WD Hemi 1500. My question is, what are my options in this range that would bolt directly to the factory y-pipe? Thanks

Check moesperformance, summit or jegs. Only shorties will bolt to the factory Y...just so ya know.

I thought about calling Moes, I guess they would be able to answer my question of fitment?

Good call there, Moes has probably the among the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff out of places to buy on the 'net.
Personally, I'd only go the LT route because I've studied actual dyno gains from shorties, mids and LTs. But I understand about inspection state issues and the such.
IMO get the longest tubes you can get that will work for your truck and be within the laws of the state which you live. If you end up paying a little more for some fitment parts/labor to have longer tubes, I think you'll be glad you did in the long run...

Well I have no state restrictions to worry about and I had originally wanted longtubes, but then I would have to get some custom work done on my factory y pipe to make them work and that costs big $. I want to keep the cats on there so thats why I cant just get an offroad ypipe...

check around! I've got the LT's, put them on myself and ditched the cats. I was then going to do the non-fouler trick for the CEL, but felt I lost a little low end torque, and decided to put the cats back. I was unsure about how to go about this and ended up getting with the local mieneke shop and we decided I'd cut and weld in the cats and take it to them and they'd fabricate a "Y" to tie it back in. Took them maybe 30 mins. and they charged me $75 bucks!!!! Only thing I had to do when I got it home was extend the O2 sensor wires about 18" to reach where the cats moved to and I was done. LT's, no CELs, great performance!!!
Get with the place, decide what you can do yourself, even if you can't weld. You'll save some $. Plus if you are paying for your install, basically they are welding the cats back in (about a 20 min. job) and doing what I had done to get them tied in (again, it cost me a whopping $75). So I can't see a reputable shop charging you a lot more to re-tie in the cats and tie them back into the exhaust...
Call around, it's not a lot of extra work!!!

For a consultation fee! Naw, j/k.

I've got some on my cell phone I took from underneath. The quality sucks and because of being so close, it's a compilation of about 6 pics, but I'll get them off the phone and put 'em up. If not tonight, it might take me a few days. Mom is going in for major surgery at 4:30 tomorrow morning and I'll be tied up with that. But I'll get 'em up as soon as I have that over and done with...

About all I got on my HDD is a pic of the headers from the wheel well before I stuck the well liners back on. Note the coating. I bought them in plain stainless and had a local shop do the ceramic coat inside & out. Did not add appreciably to the cost, but IMO the coating is better than that found on headers costing three times as much...

He has Pacesetters and had them coated from a different company to make them last longer. Plus the Ceramic coating helps performance by keeping the heat temp down under the hood.
