can i boost someone
hahaah well i know how to do it probbaly ive probably had to have my charger boosted well over 50 times when i first got it it had a charging probably and would die every few days took it everywhere no one could figure it out turns out just a little bit of a bare wire at the back from my alternator so everything was just sparking off on my engine and yeah its weird you guys never heard it cus when my charger would die if i ever asked anyone for a boost 90% of ppl would say sorry cant my computer will fry must be a canadian rumor
^^^^Dumbest thing I have ever heard, people just don't want to be inconvenienced these days to help another person out!!! Now there are cars that don't have acess to the positive terminal on the battery. In that case there is always a red plastic cap over the distribution point for the jumper lead to attach to. On all cars not just newer, the ground lead should be grounded to the engine or the frame of the car, never terminal to terminal like everyone does. Grounding to the frame would stop a battery explosion if that open wire you speak of ever grounded out and arched. If it arched while connected to the another battery, the impact could cause the other persons ecu to suffer or battery to explode.

Red is positive + ( just like your pregnant )
Black is negative -
Hook the negative cable to a ground, not the bat terminal ( ground can be a bolt on the Altenator I'm thinking chevy here )
Than hook up the Red + cable to the batt that you are boasting, Hook the black to the negative - on to the battery of the car that is running.
Turn off all the accesories on both cars, some say you should leave the head lights on the car your boasting, In Canada ever car y has day time running lights every time you turn on the key.
The idea of finding a ground allows less Voltage into the batery, less chance of things going kaboom, but if the car battery needing a boast is really dead, - cable on a ground will take more time to boast.
Now if you can't find a ground, hook the - cable on to the - post on the battery, for most this is the quicker safer way to go.
