Default Oil filter??

I have a 08 Ram with a Hemi, I was told that 2008 takes a different oil filter than previous years?? Any truth to this ? I want to change to Synthetic soon.

Yes, there is truth to that. It's the fitting on them or something about it. They changed the millimeter of the threads or something. Maybe someone with some more knowledge will post up something, but you could try to search for it. I know it was mentioned in another thread about someone having problems with their I think '06 Dodge. Then a new fitting was put on, and the dealer put on an incorrect oil filter.

Edit: Actually, here is the thread that they were talking about it in. It was an '08 Hemi that they put an '07 oil fitting on.

Look around at that to get some help unless someone else posts something up soon enough.

Yes it is different from the 07's and previous years. I found this out when I bought the Mopar filter available at Walmart and it didn't fit. No worries though, you can get a number of other filters that fit (Mobil 1, K&N, Fram, etc. all make one). Just check out the book near the filters in the store. I want to say the Mobil 1 is a M1-210, but check to make sure.

Default Thanks for the help

I know they have a good reason why they change their parts, but it still bugs me as I have 4 filters from my 2007 to use.

Sell the old filters. Someone will buy them.

Yes the oil filter is different. Same size as the 07 and previous years. Dodge changed the oil filter adapter that the oil filter screws on to. They made it a metric thread adapter instead of standard threads. That is the only difference. Why I do not have a clue. That is the same issue with the 4.7's also...
