Default Tire Wear

Do the front or rear tires wear faster? I have new toyo m/t's up front and used ones in the rear with 70% tread. I thought the front ones wear faster than the rear, but it does not look that way. Any thoughts anyone?

New tires should always go on the back when replacing just two. Then you should be rotating them anyway, so they should continue to wear evenly. As long as everything is good, next time you replace tires it should be the oldest ones, and the ones you are buying now should have 30% more tread on them.

Your back ones should wear faster. I can hear some squeaking out of my tires everytime that I round a corner. And I can tell mine also have less tread on them.

Front tires wear the shoulder and rear tires wear the tread flat generally speaking. It all depends upon driving style, but generally the drive tires wear out faster.

toyo mt's wear terribly fast, they have soft rubber compound in the tread block, amazing for off road grip but they do not last very long. As with most mud tires. And yes your rear tires do wear faster than the front as they are the drive wheels

I found that if I run 40 psi in the fronts and 35 in the rears they wear the same. I just put new Cooper Zeon LTZ's on today and my hp had 42000 on them never rotated and were exactly the same all 4.

Of course those Limited Diff's dont help the tire wear at all.
