Default High RPM for trans to engage

When I start up in the moring or after the mu '05 Hemi has been parked, the engine RPM goes very high before the trans will engage. After that, its fine. Suggestions?

Live in a cold climate?

How many miles on the truck? I would go for the typical service and band adjustment and go from there. It is about $150 at the dealership.

Default trans issue

I live in San Diego, so never see the cold stuff. Truck has 31K m iles and I bought used. But, I did pay to transfer the factory warranty, which could ppay off.

Just curious for ideas or others who had this problem before the dealer tries to sell stuff!!!!!

The idle is supposed to be high when first starting...don't put it in gear until it drops down. I usually wait until it gets under 1000rpms at least..otherwise she gets angry with me
