285 or 305's on 20" wheels
Also dirty dog, my comment to you about the 31" tire. Sorry, that was your reply to the 285/50/20. Disregard my comments on the 285/65/20. Thanks again guys for the input. Hopefully we helped the guy with the original post.
Well I am no good with reading those tire sizes, what I should have said is that I want run see 33's and 35's on stock 20's. I would like to know what the best tire for the money is to. Sorry to confuse you guys.
look at tankz400 he has 35x12.5s on stock 20s ( mickey thompson baja atz) 33s come stock on the 20s. many guy shave 33x12.5 on here. i have stock size 275-60-20 toyo oc at. dirtydog has 275-60-20 cooper zeon ltz which are nice and a great price too.
you shoud do 35x12.5s in the tire you like to most. look on site sliek 4hweelparts.com to get an idea of the looks and prices of the nicer tires. ( they are too pricey for me but a good place to get an idea of what you like)

I was thinking of the cooper Zeons I think not sure, but something like that would be nice. There is a guy around here running 35" Nitto grapplers on he 06 Hemi and it looks awesome but I don't really feel like paying a ton for a set of tires that probbably won't wear good.
That's what I said -- the overall diameter difference is 1 inch so the truck has lost only 1/2 inch in total height. We both agree that 305/50 is too short for any raised truck but I've got no complaints for my stock setup. Nobody has ever told me my truck didn't have enough rubber; these things are still massive tires.
Like you said, going down a full inch in tire size is like going up ~ 0.1 in gear ratio for free. It's not night and day but it is a gain that didn't cost anything. We all know re-gearing a 4wd is not a cheap task.
You losing 1", I can promise your seat of the pnats has not changed at all! That's like saying you went from 3:92 gears to 4:03 gears and noticed a world of difference. Maybe a slight change in the torque curve on a dyno chart, but certainly nothing drastic as for the seat of the pants. 1/2" on each side of the rubber is a noticeable diff. as far as looks and I think would look too small. The stock tires are already on the verge of being low profile for my standards on a truck.
John, Those are the Tires im looking for.... Glad to see what they look like... I checked out the tire dimensions and its was saying you would be going 4mph's slower... did this happen to you?? I am looking 4 identical sizes.
I've had them almost a year and love 'em. My rears are wearing faster than the front because my rear diff "skips" around turns because someone didn't install the additive when it was serviced before I purchased it. I'll get that fixed soon.
They're 10 times better than the stock tires in all conditions. I was as good as dead in the rain on the OEM tires; these are great. In 4wd it's unstoppable. I was caught in a hail storm last year and had to drive over a fallen pine tree to get to shelter. I made it fine and the paintless dent guys took care of the truck later.
I don't do any true offroading so I can't comment on how they perform there. I just wanted my truck to be able to do the things a truck is supposed to do if I need to.
