Default Wax Question

I have had my 9 months, I bought it brand new. I have hand washed it once (some times multiple times) a week. Paint is perfect on it, no swirls, blemishes, anything. I want to wax it, what is the best wax to use, what procedures do I need to take before waxing and what is the best type of cloth to use, is a microfiber ok? I dont want leave any marks or swirls in paint when I do this. I will be doing the wax by hand. Also what is better, Paste or Liguid? And how do some of yaw wax the top part of the truck and the center of the hood? Mine is a quad cab so I cannot reach the whole top part of the truck from the bed? Any suggestions?

if you want to do it right, you have to polish it before you wax it. i would use an orbital buffer for that. its the same process as waxing. you buff it on, then buff it off.

paste wax is the best, not liquid.

I use Turtle Wax Ice. I use both the paste and liquid. Both work great, but the paste seems to last longer. The great thing about this stuff is that you can wax everything on the vehicle and it doesn't leave any flakes or residue. The kit comes with a fiber cloth in it. Another plus is that it comes off very easy so you don't have to spend a whole day waxing!

Mothers has a 3 step system that I find works the best for me. The first step cleans the surface, the second step fills any imperfections in the finish and the third is a pure carnubba wax. It takes some time but it is a showroom finish.

I would use mothers cleaner wax, or use mothers clay-bar kit. I would advise to stay away from the "ice" products. they're like using tire-shine for wax.. In my opinion- i'd stick with mothers.

when i get ready to wax my truck this is what i do: use dish sop when i wash it (removes old wax, road grime, stuff like that), then i clay bar it. Once thats done, i use the Megauirs 3 step wax thing and that seems to be the best for me....now i only do this entire step twice a yr, but i wax it otherwise prolly 4 times a year

i suggest not wax but synthetic sealers. same thing as wax but they have a durability of up to 18 months. If you want the best finish possible you should claybar polish and move on up but if you just want to protect the paint there is no need. I prefer to polish and claybar but that's personal. I use Zaino products and find their stuff to be fantastic

I own a Detail shop for 7 years now. This is the best product for the money hands down right next to Meguirs! Does an awesome job. No other product that I have used can compare to Meguirs waxes. I did this exact method for my truck as soon as the weather was warm enough. You cannot wax below 50degrees well at all and anything below 40 is impossible and not practical. I have found that 65-75degrees is the best temp in a shaded area.

I personally would not recommend buffing your truck
for the first time. There's simply no need for it.

I agree with the mothers 3 step. Once you are done with that a great way to keep it looking great is to use a spray nanowax now and then. The stuff is amazing and it doesnt leave white residue on the black trim. I even use it on the wheels and brakedust doesnt stick anymore! Its better than rainx on the windows too.

I'm partial to Meguiar's NXT 2.0
