I did look in mine and it seemed quite busy in there - I have an '08 4.7 so maybe it's different? Who knows.....

Agreed. The Ramhammer was the best but as far as I know they are not being made anymore. However, there is a new version that is either already out or being released soon that is supposed to be even better, but pricey.

If you want bling you will need some kind of metal polished tube.

For better performing go plastic. The best ones keep the filter away from heat with shields.

Thanks for the info. I think for now I might just get a intake tube to use with the K&N drop-in filter that I already have. I like the "home brew", how much did that run you and do you have a list of parts that you used.

I have read, via the internet, that adding a CAI might/could give you a "check engine" light. Has anyone had any problems with adding a CAI and getting a CEL. By making your own CAI did you get a CEL?

I haven't had any problems with mine. I got the spectre which has an aluminum tube and oiled filter like k&n, there is a cheaper version called Kool Vue if you want to look into it.

Probably because the mass airflow sensor (or whatever the rams have for air sensing) gets covered with oil over time from filters like K&N and in addition, most people oil their filters way too much. Been down that road my self

The only way I can see a light coming on is if the IAT sensor(intake air temp) isn't installed correctly. It would be hard to screw it up but I don't put anything past anyone
