Unhappy Oil Pressure won't register... ??

I have an '04 1500 with a Hemi and 60k miles. On cold mornings, like below 0, when I start the truck, the oil pressure will not register on the guage. It runs just fine, but the "check guages" light comes on and the pressure won't register until I shut it off and re-start it, then it'll show fine. Any ideas on what's going on? I have a powertrain warranty still, can this be covered anyway if it's serious enough?

Yup and nope! Could even be the guage in the cluster itself. If the motor isn't knocking, you've got pressure and it's a minor fix. Your next oil change when all the oil is out, just throw a sensor in and see if it corrects the problem. They are usually right next to the oil filter.

Try that first though, Guages are expensive and a pain to replace, And its fairly rare they go ouy. One oher thing you might try is next time it does that,Tap the guage a couple times, It may just be sticking. Cold causes them to do that sometimes.

I also have a 04' dodge ram 1500 5.7 4x4 with 90,000 miles and mine does the same thing on cold mornings. Its been doing that for the past year, but its been fine. Same with mine, i have to shut it off on cold start, then restart, then the guage will start to read. I've taken it to the dealership and numerous shops, and they all tell me the same thing. " WE HAVE TO RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM TO DIAGNOIS THE PROBLEM." Well, I work all the time and can't hardly get away from work and try to guess what day is going to be cold here in South Texas so i can get in the shop. Anyways, on other non dodge forums, i've read it was the OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT. So, next I get a chance, i going to get that replaced. From the dealership, its only $26 bucks...... Good luck
