my passanger side low beam is out but both high beams work
my truck is a 2006 dodge ram 1500. I have tried looking for a fuse but no luck. i have tested the plug and wires but no power. Has anyone encountered this problem before? this is driving me insane! please help
total guess but do these trucks use dual filament bulbs or two bulbs one for high and one for low. more than likely i'd think it's just the bulb but i'm totally guessing on that one. don't honestly know a lot about the headlights on these trucks. other than to keep the fluid high lol.
Nope, i've went out and bought a new bulb. the new bulbs low beam worked on the driver side but would not on the passanger side. Do you think if i were to reset the computer by taking off the battery cable for around 15 minutes that it would maybe help?
No its not a computer thing. When you replaced the bulb, Did you just replace one or did you raplace both of them? Also did you test for power on the working side to establish a baseline?
I don't know about these trucks, But the design and wiring of the light system of my last truck, one light actually had an effect on another. IE. I had a similar problem twice on my last truck. First time, The solution ended up being that I actually had a taillight out also and that was affecting the headlight. The other time the headlight was completely out and the other one was fine visually, Turned out the other one wasn't fine, The filament was loose and caused the other side to not work. And don't get me start on the 2 weeks I spent diagnosing to find out the cab break light was out.
So inturn I have found that when one bulb goes out you must look at the lighting system as a whole.
**Edit**
One other thing you may look at just for simplicity sake is make sure the connector isn't corroded.

i found out what it was and now all beams now work. what i did was take a superchips flashpaq and programmed my truck. i then checked my dtc's and there were like 4 codes for low current and high current cicuit on the headlights. i cleared them and everything works now. i have rechecked for the codes and nothing comes up. not sure what it was but im glad they work now. thanks for everyones help!
