Suddenly a Rough Ride
Went to the dealer today......they verified that my tires are shot...but they described it as "the belt inside the tire is causing the wobble." Either way, I had a warranty on my wheels and tires, but it was "road hazard" only, so no dice. Since the truck was also not a certified used car, they won't give any concessions. 14,000 miles on the truck itself for an '06, and I bought it in October, and the dealer won't work with me. ********. It appears that the previous owner changed the 17s to 20s and then must have had bad rubber on it...
This is why the big 3 are dying. They were totally useless, except for trying to sell my new tires, and $80 or so to mount and balance. Bull****. No longer will I give my business to my local dodge dealer, or any for that matter. I wager $100 if I bought an infiniti or lexus they might have wanted to work with me, since I just dropped $20k a few months ago and got screwed. Oh well. I will always like my muscle cars, but I don't think I'll ever buy another car like this from a dealer.

damn that sucks, well its a good excuse for buying some sweet new tires? sorry to hear it though, i dropped my girl off at the dealer yesterday, hoping to hear the verdict today, my warranty deposit is only $50 so hopefully whatever is wrong is totally coverd, it should be since I have elite coverage. Whatever is wrong with it i swear was getting worse everyday i drove it. do you have the stock hps on now?
Well the dealership called back and all 4 tires need to be replaced, hes saying the reason for my vibration is cause the tires are worn too far...whtever. but he said my right rack is leakin and my p/s pump is bad. so im like ok im covered, but the mother****er says that the warranty guy looked it up and im not covered...which is TOTAL BULL****...it says right in the book i got from autoXtend that i have elite coverage and all my sterring components are covered. so im like ok hold on, so i call my mechanic donw the road and he says he can pretty much do the pump/rack for just under 1k and the ****in dealer wanted 1300. so i call the dealer back and tell him to take it off the lift...im pissed cause you buy an extended warranty from the dealer and they wont honor it!!!??? i paid 1700 for my warranty, ****ing guys. so **** em, now i have to pay 100$ for a "diagnosis fee". **** em im never goin back, i found out my mechanic can honor the warrenty...which is nice. going to go talk to my mechanic see what he can do...will update later
yea these are identical cases, kinda weird. its a AutoXtend warranty, somehow the truck still has the chrysler warranty on it from the previous owner, which makes me wonder why i even bought an aftermarket one. anyway, the dealer SHOULD be doing the rack and pump today. and if i go there and theres new wrangler hps on it im making them take em off and putting the originals on.
Steering rack can't be more than a few hundred bucks. That is more of labor charge than materials. Also, if your rack needs changing, your alignment will need to be done again!
Don't get tires through your local Tire garage, they will cream you in expense. Here's the best tir for the moeny hands down. Super quiet but run a little rougher than stock(all truck tires will because those Wranglers are basically car tires)
Most places should run $15-$20 per tire mounted and balanced. Tire disposal is like $2-$5 per tire. Just remember when they give you a price for tires, it won't include your local sale tax! That adds up. Anyways, Adirondack Tire locally here wanted $1230mount/balance plus Tax for my Coopers. I got them done for $750 all said and done. Can't beat it for the 20" rim size and the quality rubber you get. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...yp=Truck%2FSUV

i know it has to be aligned, thats the biggest problem with the truck right now, but i told the dealer hands off the tires today. i just ordered the zeons this morning from direct tire discount and my mechanic down the road will take care of the rest. he wanted me to get the bridgestone alenza h/l's and i know bridgestone is good but i dont want a street tire.
I have a similar problem. However, I have a 2.5" lift. The issue was there before the lift, I just didn't have it aligned until after I added the lift. It's not too bad until I get onto the interstate. Then it's another story. I have it aligned twice by 4wheelparts, who are used to aligning lifted trucks.
They swear that the alignment is correct. I am going to have my tires rotated and see if makes any difference. I have 29k on the stock Goodyears. I would love to buy some new tires, but I just got a huge bill to fix some water damage....

yea my vibration is terrible around 65-80mph, the steering wheel shudders violently. but hopefully this will be corrected after all the work thats being done to it...if not...shes gettin run into a nice big oak tree
Update:
So after 6 DAYS of my baby being at the dealership they finally finished the work (right rack and p/s pump)...and after all the agonizing and arguing with the dealer and warranty company...my repair bill came to $8.13!!!!! i dont belive it either but im really happy.
So the best part was when i got home I for some reason looked at my rear passenger tire and noticed that the tire was really out of round, so when i dropped the truck off to get my new tires on my mechanic said a belt let go! The dealer couldnt even find that! so feejay was right, the vib problem was from bad tires, ****ty goodyears!
ill get the pics of my new coopers up this week.
