regardless of the deal, i'd do some researching on that vin if you think it may have been a lemon. use carfax.com if you have to, but make sure to get a history report before you start sinking any $$ in it. not sure what your rights are in CDN, but that's where i would start.

if it comes back clean, it sounds like whoever owned it before you did very little maintenance. this could be remedied by you doing some yourself, and hopefully not much serious harm has been done.

first things first, change that tranny fluid. if it hasn't been done yet, its due. get a filter kit, and if you have the towing package you'll need the spin-on secondary filter.

if you're under any type of warranty, or have the tools yourself, have the engine compression tested. that should help identify your oil issue. if not, take it to a reputable mechanic. explain you bought it used, you've noticed it burns a little oil, and just want a check-up on it.

as noted above, the PS leak is common. check out my profile pics for where to install the clamp.

good luck, keep us posted on your progress!

oh yeah, not sure about these motors, but on another vehicle i owned, it was common for the engine to burn oil if the PCV valve was bad. replacing this could also alleviate your rough idle when cold.

thanks for the info its very helpful !!! i think the pwr steering hose should be registered as a recall though for someone not maintaining or monitoring their vehicle this cold cause a major problem if the fluid runs out ! I am going to be getting the compression test done this weekend and checking the pcv valve i want to get this oil problem dealt with.
thanks again.
