Default Quick question before I leave?!

Im about to head for the muffler shop in a few minutes. I had another thread, but I can find it. Anyway, there were gonna charge me $1,100 for headers and dual exaust, but only $600 for the dual pipes hooked up to my stock headers. Im not doing this for the hp gains, just for the looks and sound.

Whats the major downside of not upgrading the headers as well? Is it worth the extra $500?

This will all be installed at Meidas.

If your getting a full exhaust. Long Tube headers are the way to go. Not sure what your emisions regulations are, but you will have to get new cats(high flow) or remove yours. My guess is that Meidas doesn't sell LT's for your truck but has Shorties. Those are rather useless. Waste of $$$ unless you like the looks. Now, for any LT header, Midas is only gonna carry Mild Steel coated in Black. It will rust out in no time. You'll wanna spend your own money to buy the headers and have them coated in/out like JetHot does. You'll be able to buy at wholesale vs pay Midas top retail dollar in which they charge. I would wait to get your heaerds first. Otherwise, the exhaust is going to need to be modified and or completely diff.

I would get all the parts you nee off Ebay or similar and load everything up in the back of your truck for them to install. Just pay them their lousy overpriced labor and call it a day. Paying too much for product you could get for half the price is crazy. You can get a dual exhaust from Summit or Ebay with a FM muffler for $150

Ok. Well what all will I need to bring? Do i keep the stock cat? And do all the midas install the parts for me? I really need to be able to pass emission tests.

I cant do anything to my truck where I live because its an apartment. I swear I go to pop my hood on my truck and I get threatened with an eviction notice, seriosuly.

You will want to order Headers, Y-pipe to match the headers with cats or without. They can be installed custom if need be. That is ofcourse if you get LT's, however, I did a quick search and didn't see any LT's being made for the 4.7L???? I'm surprised Midas will even touch aftermarket cats, They usually won't. Maybe they can weld your factory cat in a Y-pipe between your headers and catback??? Regardless get Headers from an online source. Get your catback from an online source and have Midas put it all together. If you get Shorties, they bolt right in place of your manifolds. No change is required for your Y-pipe and cat as it can be re-used.

As far as popping your hood, you cannot get an eviction notice regardless of where you live. Checking fluids is normal procedure. I can see working on your vehicel with other cars around asn people walking by could warrant eviction, but not just popping your hood or doing minor stuff. Places do this to stop people from changing oil for the most part and having cars up on blocks for weeks at a time.

It's a "prestigious" neighborhood.

Don't get the headers, just do the exhaust. Do a little more research on what you want. You wont be able to see the headers, unless you pop your hood, which you can't do anyways, so whats the point.

Do you live in a neighborhood with an association? My one house is in one of those type neighborhoods and I can't do anything there beyond fluid level checks. Got to go to my other one to work on my truck.
