Default aftermarket wheel question

Thinking about putting some after market rims on my inferno red 2007 dodge 2500. i'm looking at the american eagle 197's in chrome and black. The offset on the however is -11 and the rim is 9" wide instead of the factory 8". Anyone have any idea how much further they would stick out. i dont want something that would stick out to far? any help is greatly appreciated!!

So if I understand correctly, a 9" rim at 0 offset will have 4.5" backspacing, correct? So a -11 offset would be ~ 4" backspacing. (4.5" - ~.5" (11mm/25.4=.43"))

I can never remember how that stuff works.

Here is a link to a site that helped me understand all that when I was looking for rims. By the way my rims have a 4" backspace. You can look at my photo gallery, there is some pics down the side of my truck and you can see how far mine stick out. Keep in mind I have fender flares that stick out 2.5".https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html#backspace

I agree with that site, but their quick reference guide contradicts with what they say. Center-line is the center of the rim, so in the case of a 9" wheel, that would be 4.5". So how does a rim with 0 offset have 5" of backspace?

Well if you noticed the centerline of the rim is measured from the OUTside edge of the rim whitch would make most 9" rims measure right at 10"s. The size measurment of a rim, such as 9" and 10" is measured from the inside of the lip of the rim where the tire meats the rim. I have a set of 10" rims that measure 11"s from outside edge to outside edge and, as I said, that is where they get the centerline from.

gotcha, now that makes more sense...so in reality you need to add about 1/2" per side to get full rim width. that makes the 4.5" backspacing just about right.

thanks!
