Default ball joints?

Last night I was pulling out of a parking spot and heard a thunking sound from under the hood. I had the steering wheel turned all the way left. I could feel it some in the steering wheel. The first thing I thought was ball joints. Could it be tie rod ends? I had a dakota that did this and they said it was dry steering stops. I would like to grease these on the ram but I don't know where to apply the grease. I have a repair cd but I can't seem to locate the stops on the CD.

If it is the ball joints how hard are they to change? Do I need any special tools. I have an 06 Ram 1500 Quad Cab SLT with 53000 miles. This is my only ride so I will have to be able to finish it once I start.

Thanks

I don't know how hard they are on the Rams but I remember my mechanic saying he had a hell of a time on my old Dakota. They are pressed in, so unless you've done it before or have access to the tools, it might be something to leave to a pro.

could be ball joints or tie rids. I don't like saying this, but do a search. sooooo many threads on here about that. did my tie rod a month ago, took 2 hours, then 3 more hours to get an alignment (midas bastards).
