I bought the liners last summer and when I looked at them they loooked grayish black, not a pure black. I went aheads and put one inside the wheel well and it looked gray. I didn't like it at all. It looked like the black color had dried up and went gray, kinda like the bedrail caps after a few years. I went to the Dealer and they brought 2 more sets out. They looked the same way. I ended up just returning them and I used Eastwood undercoat spray(kinda like a paint more than thick undercoating) It dressed it up and looks really nice. All uniform black under there.
If you have rust already, then ofcourse the liners are a no brainer, but incase you don't wanna cut the liners out for the air ride, just spray some quality undercoating in there.

Well $90 really is not that bad, how gray do they look? my truck is White but I'm not sure if it would make them appear more gray or hide it a little. I can't recall if there is any rust under there or not. What did you have to do to prep the vehicle to have the undercoat sprayed on?

Pretty gray when compared to the black plastic truck parts. It was clear as day to me on the color difference.
As far as prep, the truck was only at 100miles so prep was easy. I sprayed a mild solution degreaser underneath and hosed it down real good...twice.. I drove it to my garage and parked it overnight. Taped everything off and went to town. I used 3 tall cans of Eastwoods stuff and it came out sorta wrinkled finish and is maybe a few mm's thick. It's not bulk build nor as thin as regular paint. I sprayed the crap out of the rear differential. I hate when I see those all rusty driving down the road. I wanna put a lift on someday and that sucker will be blinding people with it's black brilliance...aahahahaaa

dont blow all your deployment money on the truck!! i see way too many of my fellow Marines do it, then they just regret it later, and are stuck living paycheck to paycheck again in no time. What i did was set aside some money that i used for fun, and the rest, or should i say most i invested. being in the military you have a ton of awesome investment opportunities that most people dont get. and if you do em right, and stick with it, you have a nice chunk of change waiting for you to retire on. the earlier you start investing, the less you have to put into it. TSP program is just one of many programs to look at. or hell, if you plan on staying in, save up for a down payment on a house. you have a steady paycheck coming in, why not?

now, for your "have fun money". definitely tires, level, gears and lsd. i just recently put some Toyo A/T's on my truck and i love em. 285's fit nicely for me. i think your mind is in the right place as far as mods go, if you setup a plan that you like and stick with it, your truck will turn out fantastic.

now, go have some fun while youre still out there. and show us hows its going when you get back.

p.s. what part of iraq are you at?

yeah I'm not blowing it all on the truck, thanks for looking out though. I do have a budget set up and I'm doing the TSP. along with all the time bouncing back and forth from Iraq and Korea in the last 6 years I got a good chunk saved up that I can afford to splurge.

Thanks for the input, I'm hope that It will turn out good. All the advice from everyone on here has been great and making this a lot easier to figure out and I'm glad I seem to be heading in the right direction. I'll keep you all updated as I work everything out.

Right now I'm in North East Baghdad but thats about a specific as I can go on an open forum.

You just concentrate on getting your a$$ back home in one piece! You get back and have the funds to spend, there's more than enough knowledge 'round this here forum that you'll have that truck jam-up as you want it, with the mods that will allow that truck to look just how you want it and perform exactly how you want it to perform...
