removing a sheared bolt?
so i have a bolt that sheared completly off. no extra bit sticking out at all. i saw a commercial not too long ago for a bit that was for this exact problem but never ordered it. anyone know the product, or a similar one to remove it? or just how to remove it period? thanks
I know what your talking about, they sell them at any hardware store. I use them all the time and they work very well. One thing though. Pray the bolt with penetrating lube and let it sit for a while before you use the drill. Makes things come out alot smoother.
Where is the bolt? I got an education a few years ago; I sheared one of the manifold bolts to the exhaust. It broke at an angle. I couldn't drill it. Couldn't get a grip with vice grips. Couldn't get a grip with a broken-bolt-removal-tool.
I went to a muffler shop and they lit up a torch to melt the bolt out while the cast-iron manifold just laughed at the heat.

You're thinking of the grabbit:

but a quick search and you'll find all kinds of things

Before I left the navy I ordered a set like this http://hand-tools.hardwarestore.com/...ctor-sets.aspx for my shop, which came in very handy a few times.

I always wondered if that product works.
