Default Why no MDS for 4.7

I guess the name says it all why dont they offer an option for the 4.7 to has MDS . It has far less power and little if any mpg improvement over the hemi. IMO it seems dumb for dodge to even spend the money making the 4.7 anymore if it has no advantages over the hemi at all. I say put some research into the 4.7 give it mds and i think its reasonable to say they could get 22-24 mpg with it maybe. Wuold be the class leader .

I guess that couldbe in it and they probably want pl to spend the extra on the hemi but i still think it should be done. For so many ppl now mpg is the biggest thing if dodge had the only truck with 25mpg or better it would really draw alot of attention away from chevy who claims to have the most fuel effecient trucks or ford with there new SFE ( superior fuel eff ) trucks which only get 21mpg . OK so many 25 mpg is reaching but i think they could get close to that number. Maybe not now cus they dont have the money but maybe in a couple years it would be a nice option.

Really It has to do with the overhead cam design of the motor I would think 2 of those mds cams and the related accessories would cost quite alot I would think. As for trucks getting new mileage all I can say is well chevy has their game face on. we had a 2004 Avalanche and while cruising down a long length of highway we calculated 25 mpg and the computer told us 27mpg this was a 4x4 and it had the 5.3

Well yeah clearly i didnt car at all about how much gas i mean anything would be better then my 74 charger with a 500hp 416 stroker lol. But the sad fact is so many ppl do care about mileage and if dodge could offer the truck that gets a really great mileage then it could only bring good things for dodge i would think. Like Hemiguy said his avalanche was gettin 25mpg and thats from a fullsize 4x4 truck. I guess one thing i can be happy about for dodge is the hybrid coming out as long as its reliable and still provides the power. If they go with the exlectric engine for low end torque that would be great those electric engines get thier full torque to start. Any guy who pulls a trailor would be interested in that im sure .

Dodge has a hybrid truck on the way don't they? That would make MDS pointless.

I totaly agree with everyone, MDS is just a scam for the EPA. If you put MDS in a 4.7 it would never kick in unless you were going down hill. The P.O.S. MDS in my truck doesn't do sh*t except make abunch of noise, doesn't bother me but what a waist of funding and engenering. My .02 cents FU*K MDS!!!!!
