Default Transmission gave up the ghost, need help.

Hey everyone, it's my first post here and unfortunately it's not a pleasant one . I've got an '02 5.9, A/T, twist **** 4x4 Ram SLT. It's been doing great the past 5 or so months I've owned it, today however, it gave me the first issue and it's pretty major. It still has perfect use of all forward gears and 4x4, but it has NO reverse. I noticed it was slipping in reverse a bit earlier today, but it felt like I was just on ice, so I gave it no thought. After I came back out to start it again, it went nowhere in reverse. Throttle amount doesn't affect anything, it only makes it whine louder. I'm thinking the entire reverse gear is gone which would probably mean it's time for a rebuild or replace. My main question is...what other transmissions will fit in this beast? Again it's a 360 with the 4 speed auto. Please let me know if any of you can help me out.
Thanks a ton,
Collin

For a manuel trans, you could go with a NV4500 5 speed. To me it's alot to change over. You could also find someone to rebuild the automatic you have and beef it up. That's the only automatic that will fit your truck.

I would definitely rather stay with an auto unless it means hundreds of dollars difference. I'm confident I can perform the swap, I've done transmission swaps on tons of different vehicles including Chryslers (Jeeps). The NV4500 is a great trans from what I understand, but I will realistically probably just have mine rebuilt. Is the 02 360 trans the only year that will fit, is that what you guys are saying? I know '98 Grand Cherokees and some Durangos came with 5.9s, could I not get those to work? Sorry about the newb question, I just don't know much other than the fact that my 02 360 is a somewhat unpopular truck.

The only thing that will work is 2000 and up, 46RE trans, which is a V8 only trans. Hope this helps.
