Default Shock Question

I have to get new shocks for the truck, and will be doing them tomorrw or Sunday. Right now I am leaning toward getting the Bilstein HD's.

Is there a better shock out there for street use only? I do not go off road and I do not haul heavy trailers or heavy loads, I just drive City and Highway all paved. I just want a smooth ride and I dont want to feel every bump and crack in the road.

oh yeah, forgot to add. dont pay someone to install them for you. its waaaay too easy to do it yourself. can be done with a basic jack and stands, and basic hand tools. took me less than an hour to do it myself, and it was my first time replacing shocks.

1) Get under truck 2) unbolt old shock and remove. 3) bolt in new shock where old one was.

There's your DIY, now lets order your damn shocks, put the summbitches on the truck and let this thread die a peaceful death!!!

Seriously, changing out a shock, especially when it's not a strut is easier than changing your oil...

ok, if im not mistaken i believe you have a 2wd? if so. all i did for my front shocks was.

1) jack the truck up and place on stands

2) take the front tires off, or one at a time if you prefer.

3) underneath the shock/coil spring there are two bolts/nuts holding the bottom of the shocks in place, unbolt those and the shock will start to come out of the bottom.

4) now move to the top of the shock, place an open end or box wrench over the nut, then use something such as an allen key, or smaller socket or wrench to hold the shock in place and take that nut off.

5) now the shock should come out from underneath the coil spring.

6) do the exact opposite to put the new shock in.

most of the time i spent was taking the tires off. ive got 8 lugs on my 2500. if you still have questions or doubts i can go outside tomorrow and take pics if you need.

i did a search on the bilstein site for your truck. They make the HD (4600) series for your 2wd both front and rear. here are the fronts http://www.bilstein.com/mistore/prod...pany_id=100484
