LOL
What base are you talking about? I do my oil changes myself over here on Camp Lejeune. I usually use Valvoline conventional or Castrol GTX for my Chrysler 300 but haven't had the truck long enough to do an oil change. I just want to make the "right" choice.

Fort Riley, KS. That is where the b/f is stationed so I could get it changed there or since my car is registered at Fort Sill I could there (my residence is halfway between the two bases) The guy that recommended it for me lives in Florida, he drives a Cobalt like I do, and he drives a Silverado.

If you want me to I can poke around, I know the 300's well enough to see if this oil would work better for you for that car, I know that I will be switching the Cobalt to this since its a lighter car and not really hard working car vs the truck, I will look into other brands to see what would be suited for my truck when I get it, but I have not heard anything against it yet.

Just remember one thing, you can make data say whatever the hell you want it to say. I'm sure since Castrol is going after Mobil 1 (who sells more synthetic oil than everyone else combined), it won't be long before you see ads with certified data say that Mobil 1 protects better than Castrol.

Go with truly independant lab reports. They consistently show Royal Purple and Amsoil at the top and then the other true synthetics a good ways behind...

+1 on this, I was contemplating to using Royal Purple in my truck and Edge in my cobalt, but price does play a factor with me so I wont know til I know when I will have my truck keys in hand

Well thanks but I got rid of my 300 so I could get this truck and a 2005 Mustang for my wife. I don't regret it. I'm still skeptical of synthetic oil though. It's much more expensive and I don't truly know if it will make that big of a difference in my truck to even be worth paying for.

it will make a difference for sure, i dont use it yet but more then enough people on this forum have switched over to all synthetics in their trucks and have noticed smoother running engines as well as a 1-2 mpg gain, you arent paying for nothing thats for sure...if you want your truck to last its worth the added protection.

And adding onto the other comment here about Trucks, while I cant speak for a truck owner, over in CF, it has had nothing but gains on the smaller cars, yes it is more expensive but you wont have to change it as often and you will get MPG and HP gain in the mustang at least. That much I know

What do you mean by all synthetics? Oil, Differential Fluid? Anything else?

amsoil has a fully synthetic that lasts for 35,000 mile intervals. They have the best oil bar none. This also needs to have the filter changed during that period. I would recommend ams.

This is the oil that I run.
