I am eventually getting rid of the 20" rims and going with a 17 by 9 rim

My question is what backspacing and offset should i use if im running a 285/70/17 tire on a 17 by 9 rim. Tryed to search earlier but did not find a definite answer.

A little help would be appreciated

 

depends on what look you want. 5.85 is the stock backspacing on the 20's.

and heres mine with 4.53 backspacing. 35/12.50/17. i ditched mt twenties also.

I too ditched the stock 20's for some 17's. My wheels are 17x8, 4.51 backspacing, +2mm offset. I have 295/70/17's on mine. Tires stick about 1/4 inch out of the wheel wells with no flare.

 

I like that look, sticks out a little but not too much, looks like im going with 4.5 backspacing or close to it, i just dont want the tire to tucked in under the truck

Do they custom make rims or something, or are there only so many offset/backspacing combinations, Oh yeah what the hell is offset, sounds alot like backspacing to me, WHY IS THIS SO DAMN DIFFICULT< I JUST WANT NEW RIMS, lol
