Talking H.i.d. Are in!

Well i had the hid kit installed yesterday...everything worked great untill i started the truck then they were flickering/strobing for a few seconds then shut off....only the headlights the fogs were fine....so the installer had to get a certain pair or relays and what he called "hard wire" them to the parking lights vs running them off the headlights....so he spliced into the parking wire and....finally 8000K H.I.D's....man these puppies are bright as hell....they are bi-xenon...so when i hit the brights it goes to halogens and they dont even surpass the xenon's....lol...o well. Im going to work..but I'll post sum day and night pics when i get off.......

So between the lift and the HID's, you must be blinding everyone in sight. There was a Ram with a lift on Youtube that posted up a video with 8k HID;s. He was blinding everyone because he never aimed the headlamps down. You need to do that from the lift kit and front blocks making the beam pattern higher up because the HID's blind to begin with in stock housings with all of the light scatter. His at 8k temp were noticeably blue even with the light reflceted blue off of lighter colored objects. 8k is too blue for me. Draws to much attetion to cops.

I thought Bi-xenon meant both Hi/Lo HID capable?

ahh, it was 10k...????? 8k still too blue for me. I like 5k-6k. White with very very slight blue tone

If you see in the beginning he puts his lights against that fence and the beam pattern is about 5ft up the dam fence. That's a 6ft fence and that beam pattern should be no more than 2ft off of it at that distance

If you have a Haynes manual for your truck, they tell you the rule for aiming the lights with regular lights. Do you know how much under that HIDs need to be aimed? I'll try to get what they say posted up tonight.

It's not that they are suppose to be aimed lower than stock. Adding a level kit tilts the projectory angle of the lights towards the sky the further you back-up instead of lower and lower the further you back up. Also, any lift kit raises up the light pattern as well. I think they are set as follows but not 100%. 20ft away, the center of the beam should be 1-2" lower than the actual bulb itself. Also, HID's have much more "scattered" light than halogen and it's amplified much brighter as well. Projector housings have step screens in them to cut the light off evenly and then step up the side of the light to see pedestrians. The beam would look like this on the pass. side _____/```````
