Dual Kicker 6.5" sub set up.
Hey what would you guys think about a dual sub box, Kicker ZX200.2 amp, and two 6.5" CVT subs, mounted in a box made for the dodge ram QC ready to wire up? With a price tag of around $400.00 or one made for two Kicker CVT 8" with the same amp for around $475.00. Also I have updates on my box and seat lift set for 10" and 12" subs. Both shallow mount and regular boxes. my email is dodgesubbox@gmail.com. Search for my myspace page currently working on it but, I do have a few pictures up now. http://www.myspace.com/dodgesubbox My website should be up and running in the next couple of weeks. Give me your opinions please.
Thanks, Doug.
Thanks, Doug.

Anything under 10's you'll want 4. If you go with 8's, you'll want 4 to give you the output needed. Maybe you can get away with 3-8's, but certainly not 6.5's. They just won't produce the bass the same. The bass will be tighter with smaller woofers, but no where near as loud. I would recommend staying away from Kicker comps. If you want rock solid performance from an 8" woofer, go with the JL 8w7. Two of those and you'll sound better than most 10's.

But that price wass for the box, the amp, the sub and maybe even installation. I just think at that point, where your spending $500..... Do you really want to spend that much money for a marginal difference in sound? That is right at the braking point for a very nice sound set-up.
What type of bass output are you looking for? What is your goal for music sound? Deep bass, light bass, punchy bass, subtle bass like home theater sound?....etc....

Aimed towards DRW.

But I just read the title again and I'm wondering if he's trying to sell something??? I dunno?

Whats up dirtydog. no not really trying to sell anything. Just trying to see if it would be worth putting something like that together and puting on ebay. Seams a little high I know. I might would make it cheaper if I do it differently. I have not even put it to paper yet. Just a thought, literally. That is with the seat lift I am selling with the other kits. I know it is 6.5's or 8"s and probably is not worth lifting the seat for. That was just to be able to put the box up agianst the back wall and have a crisp clean threater type sound (not beat your head in lowe's) and still have almost the same amount of storage area. Its just an idea I wanted to toss around. By the way, go price that equipment on any site if you want too. That is not a bad price for this:
1. Subs
2. Box (No one makes a pre fab customer would have to make or have a stereo shop build and that would not be cheap).
3. Amp
4. all mounted and out puts pre wired only haveing to wire the inputs your self.
5. It is all Kicker.
6. I could do one that has 2 JL 6.5"
I have thought about puting it under the seat but, at the front of the seat. Just would be a lot more dificult to build the box. I think I could do it, it would just take more time. that i sall. Oh yeah, dirtydog, I have been playing with the 10" round sub idea you mentioned. So far it rocks. I am adding a second 10" this week end and I am ordering two kicker 300.1 amps (one per sub) to go along with the 2 CVR 10's. That should really rock. I will be selling that set up (less the speakers and amp) on ebay soon.

Just keep in mind shipping costs when you price eveything out and sell it. That could be a bigger burden than you realize. Maybe once you get your wooden mold, you can make then box's out of fiberglass to accomodate more cu/ft and cost less to ship, although I know it's more expenive up front but it could give you that edge for more space if needed? Just some thoughts. However I really think 2 6.5's is a waste for most people as they have 6.5's in the doors already and unless they are going for a real audiophile sound set-up, most would get a pair of 8's at least and now with the shallow sub market getting bigger, options are getting endless.
I have been looking into the fiberglass thing. I was a fiber glass tech at a local bodyshop and helped a friend make floor pan moulds for carpet water jet trims and the heat moulds to mould the carpet for an after market auto carpet manufacturer so I know a good bit about glass work. It is not easy to find a good glass suplier though. I can find one close by I am sure considering I live 10 miles from Charlotte NC. It would not take much to make the moulds really and it is not like I do not have the truck to use. You know with this set up I could actually get about 3.15 cubis feet per box. a little over 1.5 cubic feet per sub. It would acually probably be more on the lines of 2 cubic feet per sub. Wow. Can you imagine how good that would sound. Probably not much high bass though. I could mould a spot in the middle for an amp then. That would mean a little less air space though.
Here are some pics of the final product of the seat lift and sub box with the round sub cut outs you asked for dirtydog!!!!
