Default will 285/70/17's fit?

AS you can see if my sig I have 295/70/17's with aftermarket wheels. on my truck. this question is for a friend.:

Will 285/70/17 fit on the stock 17'' wheels. obviously the height of the tire is well within reason. but The top of the a-arm by the ball joint seems to be pretty damn close on the stock 265's just wondering if the wider 285 will rub on this. thanks

I had 305/70/17 with a lift and stock wheels. I put the spacers on for looks. So I think you should be fine. BUT... wait for more input than just me.

Yea, they should be able to fit with no problems. If he does run into a problem, spacers are a cheap fix.

i am running that size on the stock 17" rims. I notice how close that upper a-arm is to the inside of the tire, but i've never had any problems.

The 285 is an 11.25" wide tire going on a stock 17x8" wheel. You'll be fine. Height on that tire is only 32.75". That's the max width I would even try to put on an 8" wide wheel.

well we put the 285's on today. Fit fine, as close as you can go width wise if anyone wants to know. you can NOT go wider on the stock 17's. there is literally 2 mm between the tire and the side of the a-arm. The 285's look good, not as big as he originally wanted but definitely look better than 265's

throw on a small lift. and get some wider rims with some backspacing and she'll look beautiful. got the same size tires, and a 3 inch lift, just need new rims to complete the setup. just curious what kind of tires are they. im running BFG mud terrain KM2s.
