Default VIN/Rear End Decoding

Wanted to know how to read or tell with either the VIN or rear end stamping what gearing I have as well as if it has a LSD rearend.

I have an 03 2500HD justy recently got used from dealer and pretty much has every option, but no listing of gearing for rear end & if it came with the optional LSD rear as well.

Thanks

Chris

Yep, didnt even see the tag, but just checked, thanks.

It has the 3.73 gears, just wanted to get an idea so when I buy some 285 tires for it.

I'm assuming if I go to 35's I would have to regear to 4.56

Have to - No.
Want to - Yes.

That is if your truck is a 2500 gasser. If it's a diesel you won't need to.

Yep it's a gasser...

Just got done reading thru the FAQ section and saw the recommendations about running 4.56 with 35's.

Lots of good info on here just from the last couple of days from browsing thru.

I'll try getting some pics up in the next day or two, after this snowstorm thats passing thru OH.

Nice to see someone new use the FAQ section. Also use the search feature to find out more info on the gears. You could spend hours reading about them. Guys that have upgraded to 4.56 will tell you it is their single favorite mod. If you have questions, ask. We will be glad to help spend your $$$.
