Regardless of when you do it... put that can in some hot water for a little bit to warm the contents up, prior to doing the final coat... Trust me... You'll love the finish..It makes it lay in so smooth and nice..

a few minutes.. long enough to make the can nice and warm.. so you know the contents are warm, and the pressure is increased.. this increased pressure is going to actually be what helps the most, combined with the thinning effect the warming will do...

o increasing the pressure so it comes out quicker and in a thinner coat to make it smoother

if you want it to be smooth, then go buy a couple cans of Dupli Color Filler primer....thats what i used as my base when i painted my door handles....but before you put that on, make sure to spray it with an adhesion promoter

yeah...when i painted my door handles i sanded them with 400 grit sandpaper, then rinsed them off, sprayed it with adhesion promoter twice and then the filler primer....i did 3 coats of it and sanded (400 grit again) between every coat to make sure it was smooth....then i did 3 coats of color and about 6 coats of clear lol...then wet sanded it with 2000 grit sandpaper
