Default 4.56 / Lift and CV Joints

The truck is in the shop as I write this gettin the 4.56 gears and Auburn LSD installed. I called at least a dozen shops in the area and these guys were the lowest priced at $800 for front/rear. The labor comes with a 100,000 mile warranty for whatever thats worth (more peace of mind than anything else).

The shop owner called me today and told me both my front CV boots were not just cracked/torn, but nearly gone completely. Is it normal for a 6" lift to put that extreme of an angle on the boots that it causes them to fail prematurely? The truck has 23k miles on it, and the lift has been on for 20k miles. Anywho, gettin the CV joints both replaced for an additional $100 for parts/labor...cant wait to get it back tomorrow

yes, very normal. 6" is too severe for anything but looks. Seen many a CV go kablooey off road and it's always the 6" suspension lift guys, usually running 37s, but not always.
The proper way to keep the angle and still get the height would be a 4" suspension lift then a body lift... By the way, AF, how'd the header install go?

ugh... dont get me wrong, i love moesperformance but they're dropping the ball on this one. i ordered a package deal from them with pacesetter headers, pacesetter y-pipe (both jet hot coated in/out), mopar gaskets, and header bolts. The y-pipe showed up last thursday, the exhaust clamps and gaskets last friday, and the header bolts and headers still havent shown up!! I've tried calling and email but no reply. kinda gettin frustrated. Really hoping to get them installed this weekend. I'll be sure to post pics when I do.

btw... are those your cv joints hammer?? what the heck did you do??
